I am developing and studying guides about gearing for my Sin Tank and Vulkk recommends using the Lethal mods instead of the Warding mods, reasoning being that they are really not needed for defense and the Power the Lethal mods provide will turn the wasted defense gained from Warding mods into damage output, hence more threat.

Incidentally, I had already equipped with Warding mods, and before I make any changes I'd appreciate any insight some of you veteran tanks might provide about this concept.

That has been the preferred tank gearing the last couple of years. It is almost "required" for tanks in PVP.

Yes the information from Vulkk is correct in my opinion - defense now at our gearing levels is really just a waste over the base amount you will get in all of your other gearing.

But I would caution you to hold off for a bit. New xpac is coming out with a lot of unknowns and gear changes you might end up spending a lot of time on this and find out in a couple of months everything has changed.

Thanks for the insight Valgrimur, I'm tempted to proceed with changes, but your advice is sound so I will hold off.

Another question about it: won't replacing the Warding Mods with Lethal ones destroy the set bonus?

Right now set bonus is only contained in the armoring slot.

Come late October in the Xpac that is all changing I believe. There will be a new way to get the set bonuses and they will work slightly different. There is a lot of talk on the forums in the PTS section on set bonuses and the other gearing differences. How all this will work is not 100% known. They are testing some things but how it will all get implemented we will find out in October.

I went ahead and replaced the helmet and weapon Warding Mods with Advanced Lethal 54 Mods, but the new mods don't appear in the Character Sheet. It continues to show the Warding Mods that were originally in place. Is this normal, a bug, or ??? I submitted a ticket about it but prolly won't hear anything for a week or so, and thought I'd see if anyone has some insight...

Heard back from SWTOR support...indicated this is a bug and suggested I submit a bug report.
